Nick Hall is taking Mission America Coalition to the next level

The Gospel is more relevant today than ever before. People are hurting, and there is division and tension in our culture. Yet there is one thing we know for sure – people need Jesus. One organization that has helped unite believers is known as The Table Coalition, formerly Mission America Coalition.

Nick Hall became President and CEO of The Table Coalition in 2017. Even as the name of the organization changed from Mission America Coalition, the charter is still the same as it was when the organization began in 1973, which is to unite around the cause of Christ and share the Gospel across the world.

Early beginnings

Mission America Coalition (MAC) started in 1973 as a way to create a unified approach to evangelism and reach the lost. At the cornerstone of the organization has always been the conviction that, as believers, we can all unite around the mission of sharing the Gospel to a lost generation.

There is a rich history to Mission America Coalition in the United States. The original formation came about through the U S. Lausanne Committee, an organization dedicated to unite evangelists and churches to help share the Gospel across the world. The Lausanne movement has built relationships with 80 church denominations that includes over 200,000 churches, 300 ministries across the world, dozens of ministry partners, and hundreds of prayer groups and faith movements.

The original founders of Mission America Coalition in the United States were the Christian leaders Dr. Billy Graham (who founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association), Dr. Bill Bright (founder of Campus Crusade for Christ), and Dr. John Perkins (founder of the Christian Community Development Association).

Dr. Paul Cedar served as the CEO of Mission America Coalition up until 2017. Dr. Cedar also served as president of the Evangelical Free Church of America from 1990-1996.

Nick Hall’s leadership

In 2017, Nick Hall became the President and CEO of The Table Coalition. As a well-known evangelist who has shared the Good News in all corners of the world, Nick Hall serves as the Founder and President of Pulse, a global movement to reach the lost and unleash evangelists. Pulse started in a college dorm room at North Dakota State University in 2004. Nick Hall wrote a college paper about how to reach those in his generation, which spawned multiple evangelistic events in his home state of North Dakota.

Since then, Nick Hall has shared the Gospel with over 300 million people worldwide. In recent years, Nick Hall has helped fuel revival at evangelistic events including FTS-OU, held recently in Norman, Oklahoma. At that event, over 50,000 people heard the Gospel, including over 20,000 in person and over 34,000 online. All told, over 3,000 responded to the Good News at the event.

In the coming months of 2023, Nick Hall will speak at TEDxFargo in July, share the Gospel at the Christian music festival known as Amplify Fest in Little Rock, Arkansas in August, and will be speaking at college campuses throughout the fall and spring.

Evangelist Nick Hall also serves on the board of the National Association of Evangelicals, being joined by other well-known leaders, including Ed Stetzer (Executive Director Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College) and Michael Henderson (Senior Pastor at New Beginnings church and the Vice President of National Ministries for Converge).

Under Nick Hall’s leadership,The Table Coalition (and Mission America Coalition, the former name of the organization) has continued the mission originally designed by Dr. Billy Graham, Dr. Bill Bright, and Dr. John Perkins, to unite believers under the cause of Jesus to reach those who do not know Him.

Reaching the next generation

Mission America Coalition, now known as The Table Coalition, casts a wide net. As the charter states: “The Table Coalition, formerly known as Mission America Coalition, exists to catalyze partnership within the American Church for the sake of evangelism.” As such, the organization is intentional and dedicated when it comes to uniting believers around the mission of sharing Jesus far and wide.

As the President and CEO, Nick Hall is on a mission to reach the next generation, those who have grown up in a world dominated by divisive politics, a culture that intends to dictate what we believe and how we act, and a worldwide health crisis that started in 2020.

In the midst of these global and widespread cultural and political upheavals, the next generation has also dealt with the pressure of social media, pervasive technology, and the pressure to stay constantly connected. This environment has led to rampant pressure, social anxiety, depression, and mental illness.

According to one study, only about 45% of those in the GenZ age group report feeling good about their own mental health. One root cause, according to another study, is the pressure from social media. Of about 42,000 respondents, a high percentage of those surveyed said they suffered from “poor” or “very poor” mental health. This is the lost generation, those who have grown up with easy access to technology, yet they have become hooked on apps like TikTok and Instagram to the extent that they feel they have to always be online.

The challenge is how to reach them for Jesus effectively, given all of the distractions they face with technology. As part of the mission motivating The Table Coalition and under its original name, Mission America Coalition, the great challenge is to stay relevant, consistent in how the message is shared, and keep the focus squarely on reaching the lost with the Gospel.

And yet, there is hope! The next generation appreciates authenticity and gravitates. When they are activated and motivated, they become highly engaged. Evangelism can spark revival and a revolution, generating a fresh outpouring.

Entering the digital age

Evangelist Nick Hall is uniquely prepared to lead The Table Coalition (formerly Mission America Coalition) into the coming age where more people are online than ever before.

One clear example of this is the Good Friday Revival Broadcast, which included a Gospel message by Nick Hall and performances by recording artists such as Matthew West, Grammy award-winning rapper Lecrae, and Tasha Layton.

Thousands tuned into the live broadcast and thousands more have watched the broadcast all over the world since then. It was unique in that the self-contained program was not only distributed online through the GoodFriday.org website, but it was all shown on television networks like RBN.

One thing that is clear: In 2023 and beyond, more and more young adults will consume media, spend time on social media apps, and engage with others online. The Table Coalition is positioned to engage with those in the GenZ age group and with every generation through The Table Coalition website, their social media presence, and a widely read email newsletter, which you can register to receive on their website.

What comes next

The rich history of The Table Coalition has formed a solid foundation. We are all welcome at the table. The message of Jesus is as relevant today as ever, and there’s an emerging generation of young adults who are eager to hear life-changing words of hope and salvation.

A quote from Dr. Billy Graham about the original mission behind Mission America Coalition has stood the test of time. He once said: “Our country stands in great need of a genuine spiritual awakening. I strongly support the goals of Mission America Coalition and pray that God will use it to bring a new wave of evangelism and spiritual awakening to our nation and our world.”

Nick Hall is poised to usher in a new age of digital evangelism, uniting those who are from different backgrounds, denominations, and ministries under one common mission – to reach the lost for Jesus.
